The Mobile Clinic
"Its a positive step in the right direction" says Dr. Srivatsan.
"The entire Advisory Board has decided that we cannot wait for the
clinic to be built, a more direct access to healthcare must be made
available today." This is in reference to Project RISHI's
funding of a mobile clinic to the village of Manapakkam. Up
until now the 15,000 inhabitants of Manapakkam have not had any
regular access to local healthcare. To be seen by a physician or
another healthcare professional, villagers had to be sent many miles
away to the next closest clinic. But now thanks to the many
generous donations of our sponsors, Project RISHI is now funding a
physician and nurse to take the time to run by the village on a
bi-weekly basis so that villagers can see healthcare professionals
when they need to see one. "We are still planning on building
the clinic so that all the villagers can have a place to go when they
are sick. This mobile clinic is temporary until we can build the
actual clinic and staff it with healthcare professionals who can serve
the 15,000 residents on a daily basis. I want to thank all our
sponsors that have made this mobile clinic possible, and let them know
that their donations are directly helping many people live happier and
healthier lives" (Dr. Srivatsan).
